Introduction
In her sculpture, Louise Giamari renders the tangible bonds, links that tie the vegetable and the animal to the vast realm of the living in nature. Her creatures have the gift of nothingness because they belong to a peculiar no man's land, an unusual transversal border beyond time and space.
Louise Giamari : a few landmarks
Since her first shows which took place at the end of the 1980's, Louise Giamari's compelling works have been displayed in important theme related exhibitions in France, Belgium and Japan.

Statements
"No angel made by Louise Giamari, but infinitely crushed creatures, in human semblance, surviving of dismay. They populate a heavy, first, colossal art, where the man and the animal are indistinct, love and support each other, in the sexual height of horror and sweetness. Louise Giamari gets rid of almost everything, and, at first, of the overflow of the human being, crushed by gadgets and by surfaces which are the killers of the soul. Utterly destitute, where the poverty of materials imposes a striking dry contemplation, stunning by strength and dull emotion."
Christian Noorbergen
"The artist delivers no message. She doesn't want to be situated and by this way, she finds the thread of the history of sculpture which goes from grace to gravity, borrowing in Arte Povera the sinuous forms of deprived bodies and recumbent figures, between the register of the formless and the representation."
Bernard Goy, general delegate of the FRAC Ile-de-France
"The characters of Giamari can easily form groups. They can be solitary also, and always, they have the power to magnetize the surrounding space. We really see only them, and we cannot cut off from them because they are certainly not representations but surely presences."
Jean-Luc Chalumeau
"Her works, these characters stemming from a strange bestiary, seem to have stopped, congealed, as if, in an unconscious geography, they had finally found their place. Whatever they are, centaurs, dogs, gooses, rats, men-birds, these ambivalent beings appear like some mummies of the memory, put back in clay to mean better the unstoppable fragility of the human being."
Anne Le Moal
