Humberto Poblete-Bustamante "Oil You Need Is love"

From 15 October to 12 November 2011

Polad-Hardouin gallery is proud to present Humberto Poblete-Bustamante's new solo exhibition of paintings, drawings and sculptures, Oil you Need is Love

His current work bears the influence of old masters (Titian, Monticelli, Cézanne, Monet), contemporary artists (Eugène Leroy, Georg Baselitz, Thomas Houseago) and of nature : "My painting has been coming from nature to go back to nature". Works exhibited are under the sign of love, its fullfillment in a cheerful pleasure : flowers,  maternity, bathers (a title borrowed to Cézanne)…

Works by Humberto Poblete-Bustamante stand at the border of figuration but are never abstract.  «I want to get rid of the image, the image is the enemy! Image prevents figure from becoming presence […]. »

If his subjects are still lives, flowers, his wife, his children, sometimes crucifixion that are also resurrections, what really matters is that his painting is as one with the body of the artist. While painting, the artist looks for what links him to the vital energies of the world. His painting is fluid and shimmering at the same time.

Born in 1966 in Santiago, Chile, Humberto Poblete-Bustamante lives and works between London, Paris and Sicily. He studied at Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and has exhibited his works in Chile, France (Paris), Germany and England.
