We feel so impressed in front of Helmut Rieger's painting! The atmosphere is clammy. Almost unbreathable. In this universe where the red and the black dominate in wide powerful lines, bodies languish heavily or unite with the violence of lianas in a dense forest, where nothing is more opaque than the existence. Still little known on this side of the Rhine, Helmut Rieger shows a great talent by his treatment of the color and by his sense of the composition.

 

Helmut Rieger: a few landmarks
Born in 1931 in Silesia, Helmut Rieger lived there the war ordeals. He only left Poland at the end of the hostilities, with his mother and his pregnant sister. This artist notably worked within artistic groups, as Wir, Spur or Geflecht. Winner of the Prize of the Society of the friends of the arts of Rosenheim, he is member of the Bavarian Academy of the Fine Arts. He lives and works in Munich.
