This artist’s work is characterised by a combination of observation and expression.  In blending the two he appropriates different artistic forms like Pop Art or a kind of expressionism much like De Kooning’s, imagined as a means of grasping the essence of current society.  The images are aspects of mass culture, cartoon strips, advertisements, magazines, all of which the artist appropriates in order to subject them to destructive treatment.  The expressive deformations that result convey a critical irony.  The compelling power of his paintings comes from the comedy implied at the heart of the image, a means of evoking the vacuity of the contemporary world.
