Born in 1954 in Seine et Marne, France

In full control of her art, Lydie is equally at ease with very large formats as with minute compositions. She was made to take part in titanic fights, which she plunges into with zeal in order to create impulsive, brisk, and lively paintings in a sort of urgency, culminating in a climactic and lifesaving fever.

Lydie Arickx presented her first works in 1982, after having studied the graphic arts at university. Supported by the Galerie Polad-Hardouin, which exhibited her work in solo shows within and outside of its walls, Lydie Arickx participated in several important international events, such as the Basel Fair and Art Paris.

Lydie Arickx's works are an important part of several international public collections: the National Museum of Modern Art of Paris, the Centre Pompidou, the Tokyo museum…
In 1999, she created a monumental fresco for the intermunicipal maternity hospital of Créteil (300m2), and in 2000, the sculpture « La Genèse » (« Genesis ») (3 x 4 m) for the Lagnet Castle in Guyenne.
