Artistes: Anya Belyat-Giunta, Ayako David-Kawauchi, Caroline Demangel, Elizabeth Garouste, Mâkhi Xenakis

Drawing considered as a catharsis, this is what gathers five women artists at the gallery Polad-Hardouin. Paper becomes the theater where passions clash, where the artist, actor and spectator at the same time, gets rid of the pulsions thanks to their staging. Simple means and immediacy of execution makes drawing a preferred media for seizing moods and feelings, even fleeting and unaccountable.

Anya Belyat-Giunta, Caroline Demangel or Elizabeth Garouste, tackle the white page without premeditation or prior scheme. Forms gush out and follow on ; characters come out as if they were evident. Apparently quieter,  Ayako David-Kawauchi's charcoals mirror the subtle movements of the soul. In her pastels, Mâkhi Xenakis, covers the space repeating the same shape like cells, where emptiness strongly settles.

The stories of these artists are unusual and peculiar ; some of them are self-taught, but their approach of drawing is always free and intrepid. The stylistic daring of the line together whith a rapturous imagination can lead to the borders of madness ; these threads they weave with pencils express their desire or anger. With strength and sincerity they ignore the thin and fragile line that wants to separate outsider art from the rest of the artistic scene. On the contrary, they create an aesthetic space where shapes and forms freely circulate.

This exhibition will also be the occasion to show for the first time at the gallery works by  Ayako David-Kawauchi and Caroline Demangel.
