Isidro Romero "Drôles d'oiseaux"

From 21 March to 12 May 2002

Isidro Romero enjoys telling stories : he takes up a current event and turns it into a tale, a series.

Romero was possessed by the need to paint at a very early age ; he is a painter who responds to an urge.
His passion is in reality twofold. He discovers cinema at the age of thirteen, and meets François Truffaut on his arrival in Paris, in 1959. He thus decides to become both a «painter and a cineast».
His work shows his need for sequence, his attention to focus, the same intensity and taste for colours.
His love of beauty enables him to address difficult or painful subjects with tact and self restraint.
In 1998 he presented a series on the Algerian events under the title « Massacres ».
Today his « Strange birds » talk about human folly.
